The Toastmasters
educational program consists of two tracks - a communication track and a
leadership track.
These programs were
restructured effective July 1, 2006 to better recognize the separate
awards for communication and leadership.
The following
provides an overview following a typical new member who goes on to
become a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), the highest level of
recognition for a Toastmaster.
The new member
earns their Competent Communicator (CC) award
(formerly called the Competent Toastmaster) and/or their Competent
Leader (CL) award (New).
A Competent
Communicator can then proceed
onto the Advanced Communicator track (AC-Bronze to
AC-Silver to AC-Gold).
After earning their
Competent Leader, the next step in the leadership stream would be a
Advanced Leader-Bronze (by being a Club
Officer), then an Advanced Leader-Silver (District officer).
Once the Toastmaster
has achieved both the AC-Gold and the Advanced Leader-Silver awards, they
become a Distinguished Toastmaster!
